'm mindy basara. thank you for joining us this morning. let's get a check on weather and traffic on this friday. >> there is some fog out there. ensing up.in 90 minutes delays at queens an anne county. the fog is beyond that. it goes west of the bay. the fog does not show up on the radar. the stormy weather is either ofth of us and inla line storms crossing the mississippi valley. that will bring us relief from the heat we expect today. hot and humid. but foggy this morning, at least in some areas. we will detail that in just a few minutes. let's check on traffic. >> the fog is out there. you cannot see it on our cameras. we have a few things to mention -- you can see it on the cameras. there are closures at charles street, a cathedral street in mount vernon because of the book festival. there is a car fire in the white marsh area on 95, but that does not look like to be affecting traffic. things are looking good on the topside of the beltway. use those low beams to get through that. this is the key bridge. very light volume. we do have some fog warnings on the area bridges. be a

county executive jim smith. good afternoon. what can you tell us about baltimore county? >> good afternoon to you. we're fairing fairly well. it helps when people use common sense. going around the barriers is -- it's hard to understand because we've had such great cooperation between so many of the agencies and the police and the public works, two of the agencies have been working hand and glove and a road that is partially closed until public works get there. they put up the barrier and the police go on to assist other areas. we need the cooperation of the public but all the agencies are working very, very well together. with respect to the two shelters, they're really open for people who feel threatened, particular thy those who are -- could be impacted by the tidal surge. that's supposed to owe consider around 12:48 p.m. if they are afrayed for their pets we have coordinated with animal control. they can bring their pets. if they're bringing their pets with them, we're prepared to even take care of the pets. we have done 6500 row versus 911 calls. there are robocalls, mostly

, wisconsin to bring us up to date. good morning, cindy. >> reporter: good morning, maggie. this earthen he levee is part of a series of dikes built mostly sand way back in the 1890s. sunday parts began to erode or give way as people in the historic town of portage are seeing the wisconsin river at its highest level since 1938. here in portage, the wisconsin river reached 20.5 feet sunday. that's even higher than the predicted crest, which forecastrs said wouldn't come until later today. 300 residents were asked to evacuate but those who stayed behind were trapped when local highways were shut down. >> they told us that we have -- that we had ten minutes to get out of there because they are blocking off all the roads back there. >> reporter: all this flooding was the result of extraordinarily heavy rains that fell across the upper midwest last week, as much as 10 to 12 inches in some areas. in the western wisconsin town of arcadia, some folks were allowed to return to their homes only to find their belongings water-logged. >> phone calls from a few friends letting me known flooding was occu
